Class Placement:

All decisions regarding class placement for September are made by their teachers, in consultation with the Dean of Curriculum, and or Dean of students when necessary. As qualified educators they take into consideration a variety of factors when making all decisions for placement of students. School is a place where our students are expected to learn and grow academically and socially. Each year they will have the opportunity to forge new friendships through their social interactions with their classmates. Chapter 1:  Know who the first Americans were and that they used natural resources to build shelter. Know what the Native American groups, wore, ate, how they traveled, and what kind of homes they lived in, and where they lived.

 

Chapter 2:  Know what an explorer is, a colony, and a colonist.  Know who Squanto, William Clark, John Smith, and Sacagawea were. Know that the colonists wanted their independence from England.  Know that the pioneers moved west in covered wagons.  Know why we celebrate Thanksgiving and what Thanksgiving means. Know what St. Augustine is.

 

Chapter 3:  Know how many colonies there were, know what July 4th is and why we celebrate on that day.

 

Chapter 4:   Know what a pioneer is.

March Madness

Again this year we are going to offer a 4 week basketball clinic during the month of March.  So, if your child loves basketball, wants to continue to improve his/her skills and/or wants to join a team next year, or just to have some fun, this is a great opportunity!

   The clinic this year will be run by the professional organization called Shootin' School. 

It is the same staff of people who were the clinicians at the school’s summer camp last August and also were a big part of our very enthusiastic pep rally prior to the start of playoffs for the Hill teams.

Again the “teaching” clinic is open to boys and girls. It is also open to children who do not attend Hill so if your son/daughter has a friend from another school, they are welcome too.   If you know any non-Hill children who wish to attend please share the link below with them.

Grades 1 through 4 will be from 9:00 to 10:30    NOTE: March 16 time 8:00 to 9:30

Grades 5 through 8 will be from 10:30 to 12:00
