Adopt a Pantry
Staten Island food pantries and soup kitchens are being stretched to the breaking
point, and demand is growing. While individuals and not-for-profit organizations do
what they can to support them, the contributions translate to only the proverbial drop
in the bucket.
Accordingly, we’re asking that Hill families donate $5 per family to aid in
supporting Staten Island’s 40+ food pantries and soup kitchens in an “Adopt-a-Pantry”
initiative. This began in 2013 by a local charitable organization called the Staten Giving
Circle (see below) and is modeled after the Adopt-a-Highway campaign. It enlists
schools, organizations, businesses and private individuals as sponsors of Staten Island’s
pantries.
