After our PD meeting yesterday at school, there will be some changes made to how we will be communicating daily assignments for the students. Beginning Monday, March 23rd k-2 grade will be using Seesaw for communicating daily assignments. At this time no assignments will be posted to google classroom; however, the emails that were provided to your children for google classroom must be used to login to the Seesaw account. Attached are directions for registering. Today at 9:00am a practice writing prompt will be assigned to familiarize families with navigating the site. Please note that today's daily assignments were already posted to the SJHA website below. After tomorrow all work will be submitted and assigned through the Seesaw site. Thank you for your patience during these times.

Greetings,
Teachers worked together today to create and formulate lessons for the coming week that will be used to supplement the work that would have been done in the classroom. Here is a basic outline that will help you to understand how to access assignments throughout the week and contact teachers for answers to questions about assignments. There is a healthy balance of review materials and some new concepts for them to begin reading about and exploring.
Work will be posted daily by 9:00 to Google Classroom and/or teachers website pages. Please do not wait for alerts.
Students should work on the assignments between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, taking into account that throughout a normal school day, there would be a break for lunch and specials.
Teachers may be posting videos, reading passages, worksheets, websource and a variety of other content.
Students with multiple teachers should check all of their classes for work.
Some work may need to be submitted during the day and should be submitted on time. Students should follow the specific instructions of their teacher.
Teachers will be submitting homework assignments that may also need to be submitted and may be graded. Students should follow the specific instruction of their teacher. Check frequently for updates.
Teachers will be available to answer emails between 9:00AM and 2:45PM. All emails received later than 2:45 will be addressed the next day.
It is important to keep up with specific deadlines and check the teachers pages frequently after 9:00 AM
Please know that we as a staff are concerned for the wellbeing of our students and their families and we will continue to pray for all of you. We thank you for the beautiful words of thanks and support that have been expressed to us these last few days as we work to navigate through this difficult situation. Your acknowledgment of what we strive to accomplish is greatly appreciated. Please be safe and continue to take precautions.
If you were unable to pick up books today, I will be available Monday and Tuesday. Please email me and we can discuss a time for pick up. [email protected]
On another note our Fashion Show has been moved to May 13th.
God bless you all and may he keep you all safe.
Mr. Hansen
Sincerely,
Mr. Lawrence Hansen

Assignment
Just a quick clarification regarding yesterday's email about our working plans for students.
K to 4
For students in grades K to 4, the 9:00 to 2:00 time frame is a suggestion of the amount of time they may spend on school work. As they may need a little more guidance, their work does not need to be submitted by 2:00, rather it can be submitted daily by the end of the day when parents have had time to check it and help them submit. Please just check for assignments at 9:00, as some work can be done independently.
5 to 8
For students in grades 5 to 8, the 9:00 to 2:00 time frame should be more closely adhered to, as they can work independently. Assignment should be submitted at the specified times set by teachers. Many of these assignments will be graded.
If you are in need of books, I will be in my office Monday at 9:30 and available until 10:00. You can come directly to the entrance by the main office on the 4th floor. If that time is not convenient, I am more than happy to schedule a time to meet later in the day. Please just let me know. I will make any accommodations that you need.
The building is undergoing a full and complete sanitizing from a cleaning company today.
Have a safe and healthy weekend. You are in my prayers.
Mr. Hansen

If a student tests positive for the flu, children are not to return to school until they are at least fever free for 48-72 hours, as they are still considered to be contagious for about a week. In short, if your child is diagnosed with the flu, they must not come to school until they are cleared by a doctor. Any student who comes to school sick or with a fever will be sent home to insure the health and well being of everyone. All tests can be made up upon return.
Additionally, even if your child does not have the flu, but has had a fever, they should not return to school until they are fever free for at least 24hours. The same applies to vomiting and or/ "sensitive" stomach issues. We have members of our school family with compromised immune systems and all precautions should be taken to prevent other students from getting sick. I thank you all in advance for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Absences:
If your child is absent you must send them to school with an absent note on the day they return. Failure to do so will result in a hold on report cards and records. If a child is frequently absent on days of testing, it is up to the discretion of the teacher, in consultation with administration, to give an alternate assessment that is different than that of the rest of the class. Students who are absent due to family vacations are expected to complete all work within the 1st two days of returning to school. This includes ALL missed assessments. This does not apply to students absent due to severe illness, hospitalization or a death in the family. In those cases, teachers and administration will work with parents to discuss the best course of action.
Report Cards:
Please check your email this Friday for the exact date and time that the TADS educate SIS parent portal will reopen. At that time parents will have the opportunity to log in and print report cards directly from home. We will no longer be printing report cards in school. If you plan to attend the parent teacher conference day next Tuesday, please be sure to bring your printed report card with you as teachers will not have hard copies of the report card available to discuss. This will be the process we use going forward.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 11th: Students will observe a moment of silence in remembrance of all those lost on September 11th. Students will be in the appropriate school uniform (summer/ spring uniform is acceptable).
Thursday, September 12th: All students registered and participating in our SJHA Soccer Program may wear their soccer uniform.
Friday, September 13th: All students should dress down. We will all be painting rocks for our "There's Only One You" rock garden. Please make sure that the students are not wearing their "best clothes". It is advisable that they bring with them an old tshirt that they may use to pull over their clothing so that paint may not stain their clothes. Absolutely NO ripped jeans, slippers, slides, or flip flops. Shorts must be an appropriate length and no sleeveless tank tops are to be worn.
Tomorrow will be sending home a great deal of information regarding our After School programs. Please review so that you may adhere to registration deadlines.
Thursday you will receive a donation sheet to help with the purchase of items for Centennial raffle baskets. Please be as generous as you can.
As of this afternoon, our invitation to all of our Centennial events is on our school website under the Centennial tab. You may log on to register for all events.
