SJHA mourns the loss of Mr. Jerry Lee, former Athletic Director

St. Joseph Hill Academy Elementary School mourns the loss of Jerry Lee, a pivotal member of our school's athletic program from 1997-2021. During his tenure he served as our school’s Athletic Director and headed the Basketball Program. Mr. Lee founded the Staten Island Basketball League, establishing our school’s basketball program, coaching and allowing our students to compete. Mr. Lee always put the interest of our student athletes first and continuously pushed to improve Hill’s Athletic Program.

Mrs. Rosemarie Stazzone, SJHA's former Athletic Director said, "I recruited him in 1997 for SJHA Elementary School. He coached the 7th grade and 8th grade basketball girls and boys. He remained with the program. When I left the Athletic Director role for the after school programs after 25 years, he took on that role. He was a great teacher, coach and person!"

Mr. Lee’s legacy on SJHA Elementary School Athletics and all Staten Island sports is tremendous. The Hill Community was blessed to have his leadership in Athletics, providing hundreds of our students with opportunities to develop team bonds, benefit from physical activity and boost their self confidence. Our hearts are with his wife, Mary, his children, grandchildren, and his beloved family and friends. Jerry lee
