Catholic Schools Week Schedule

January 30th to February 3rd 2023

 

 

Monday, January 30th, Distinguished Graduate Mass: We will honor a graduate of our elementary school and invite their family and or friends for a brief reception with the 8th Grade students after the mass. Students in all grades will record creative messages of gratitude to their parents, alumni or benefactors to thank, honor and recognize them for their continued support of our school community. All students will wear full dress uniforms for mass.

 

Tuesday, January 31st, Decade Day: Teachers can dress up in attire that reflects the decade in which they were born (or their favorite decade). Students in PreK and Kindergarten can dress in 2000’s, 1st Grade in 90’s, 2nd Grade in 20’s, 3rd Grade in 30’s, 4th Grade in 40’s, 5th Grade in 50’s, 6th Grade in 60’s, 7th Grade in 70’s, 8th Grade in 80’s. The week prior perhaps discuss and look at pictures and or videos of that time. The clothing is not as important as the accessories. Those who choose not to participate will wear their full dress school uniforms.

 

Wednesday, February 1st, STREAM DAY: All Grades PreK to 8 participate in a fun STEAM Activity that focuses on unity, perseverance, determination or teamwork. 6th to 8th Grade students will donate one box of hot or cold breakfast cereal to the Staten Island Giving Circle. This is a Hill Wear Day (consult past IRIS for Hill Wear protocols). Those who do not wear Hill Wear will wear their full dress school uniforms.

 

Thursday, February 2nd, Favorite Character Day & Culture Day: Share an item or a picture of an item, or a photo of a person that is important to your family or represents something important to your family's history, traditions, or culture. All students may dress as their favorite character from literature, movies or TV. Those who choose not to participate will wear their full dress school uniforms.

 

Friday, February 3rd, Comfy Cozy Movie Day: All students (and teachers) in grades PreK to 8 can participate in “Comfy Cozy Day”. Everyone can dress down in any appropriate lounge wear. No slippers, slides or shorts please. Classes will view an age and grade-level appropriate film that focuses on unity, perseverance, determination or teamwork. After the film they will participate in a themed activity. Students who choose not to participate should wear their full gym uniforms. Students in grades PreK to 8 may donate a pair of socks, pajamas, winter hats, or gloves for children in need.
