7th grade student Nathan Ettinger (son of kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Ettinger) has been participating in St. Baldrick’s day at Our Lady of Good Counsel for 6 years. It is an event close to his heart. At OLGC, we did the shave in honor of a former student named Maggie. At 21 months old Maggie was diagnosed with retinoblastoma and at 7 years old, Alveolar soft-parts sarcoma. She continues to undergo endless surgeries, transfusions, tests, procedures and the horrific effects of her cancer. This year she is a freshman in high school, every milestone in her life is a major one. Now that Maggie has graduated OLGC is not holding the event but Nathan wants to continue this tradition that he began in 1st grade. He will shave his head in front of his classmates on Friday June 16th.
