- This assignment is due by the end of the day tomorrow, May 27th. This assignment will be graded as a quiz. If students are late in handing in this assignment, then they will lose points off their final grade depending on how late it is handed in.

Instructions: Create a patriotic song for Sparta It could be a national anthem for the city-state, or it could be a battle song that the Spartans sing before they go into battle.
- The grade will be based off of how creative a student can be in creating their song. It has to make sense so the lyrics should be about things you learned about Sparta from either the video or the PowerPoint.
- It should be 2-3 verses long. It doesn't have to be long but it should be long enough as a national anthem or fight song would be.
- Overall, I'm looking for creativity. Students should not just throw together information randomly for this song.
- Students can also perform their song if they wanted and hand in their performance.

- Attached is graphic organizer. Use the PowerPoint presentation of Democracy in Athens to fill in the facts boxes for Rights of Citizens, Duties of Citizens, and the Bodies of Government. In the second box marked opinion, give your opinion on those facts. For example, for the Rights of Citizens box, you can comment on whether citizens should have more rights or the rights they are given are fair. Write an opinion based off the facts written in the previous box.

- At the bottom of the page is an activity, but you can ignore that. All I want you to do is fill in the graphic organizer. Fill in the boxes.

- Students have the option of writing their answers directly on the graphic organizer and handing it in to Google Classroom, or student can make their own chart on a separate document and hand that in.

Students should look over the map to get a better idea of how ancient Greece was constructed. Some city-states are larger and power powerful than others, like Athens, Sparta, Thebes, and Argos. There also several smaller city-states that are not pictured on the map. Small city-states were forced to rely on the larger city-states for support. They formed alliances with each other.

- There is a video of the First Emperor Shi Hunagdi. In the video they refer to Shi Huangdi as Qin Shihuangdi because kings were often called by the name of their state as their first name.

- This homework assignment will be due on Friday, March 27th. This assignment grade will count towards the fourth marking-period.

- Students should fill out the hand-out sheet (posted below) on separate piece of paper or document. The boxes in the chart may be too small to write in. There is also a separate task with instructions listed at the bottom of the sheet.
Instructions:
- Read through the specific philosophies of Confucius and Laozi in the boxes, and based off those philosophies and feelings fill out the individual boxes. For example the first box is titled, "Goal of the philosophy." Based off the information from the sheet and what you already know about the two philosophies describe what their main goals are.
- Please write your answers on a separate document. The boxes are too small to provide a complete answer.
- At the bottom of the sheet is a task that can be completed on the same document. For that part you are to write your own philosophy in dealing with a current problem that you or someone you know has. We are all dealing with the sample problem of the Coronavirus so maybe you want to come up with a philosophy to deal with that problem.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!!

- There will be a test on The Ancient China chapter on Friday, March 13th.
- Students can best prepare by reviewing the three PowerPoint presentations that make up the Ancient China chapter.
- A review sheet for the test is posted. Students are expected to read over the review and attempt to answer all questions so they will be prepared for the class review the day before the test.

- The Expo Essay is due and will be collected on Friday, March 6th.

- For the students that did not hand in their Expo Graphic Organizer that was due on February 21st, make sure you have that assignment to hand in for Monday, March 2nd. Students will get feedback by the end of the school day.
- This assignment was graded as a homework assignment.
- The Expo essay is due on Friday, March 6th. Students are expected to follow the guidelines that were posted last week for their Expo essays.

-This assignment will be due and collected on Tuesday, February 25th.
- Students will receive a hand-out in class titled, "Announcement of Power." They will envision themselves as the new Zhou king and announce to the people why they have come into power by explaining three things on the hand-out.
- If students run out of room then they can finish their explanation on a separate piece of paper and staple it to the hand-out sheet.

- Students will create their own timelines that will feature Chinese dynasties. Each timeline should feature at least seven Chinese dynasties, and the name of the each dynasty and the time period they ruled for.
- Students can use their chrome books to research all the Chinese Dynasties dating back to the first one.
- Students are encouraged to make their timelines visually appealing. They can use crayons or markers as well as construction paper if they choose.
- Students will begin this assignment on Monday, after every student is finished with the quiz, and complete it during the following day's class. This assignment will be due by the end the of class on Tuesday, February 25th.

-There will be a quiz on section 1: Settling Along the Huang River on Monday, February 10th.
- Students can use the PowerPoint presentation to study and prepare for the quiz.

- Students will choose a topic to write about for their Expo Essay. They have two choices to choose from. They can choose to write an interview or write about a patriotic symbol.
Interview:
- Students can interview a veteran, a civil servant, or an immigrant.
Patriotic Symbol:
- Students can write about the American flag, the Statute of Liberty, the Bald Eagle, or anything they consider a patriotic symbol of America.

- Students also must create either an Essential Question or a Thesis statement for their essay.
- Students must either write out or type out the topic they are writing about and a Essential Question or Thesis statement that goes with that topic.
-This assignment is due Friday, February 7th and it will be graded as a homework assignment. Students will lose points off this homework grades for everyday it is late.

- Students will print out the PowerPoint presentation: Settling Along the Huang River for Monday, February 3rd.
- Students will be expected to be prepared with the first section of the Ancient China section printed out. This will carry a classwork grade out of ten points. Everyday a student is not prepared with their PowerPoint presentation print-out they will lose one point off the final grade.
- Students are expected to follow along with the section and presentation with their own print-out. They are also encouraged to take notes on their print-outs.

- There will a test on the Chapter: Ancient Egypt on Friday, January 31st.
- The chapter is made up of two sections; Egypt Under the Pharaohs and Art, Architecture, and Learning in Egypt. Both PowerPoint presentations are posted to Google Classroom
- Students can access all of the PowerPoint presentations and look over their notebooks to prepare for the test.
- The review sheet for the test is posted below. Students should look over the review sheet to prepare themselves for the in-class review the day before the test.

- Students received a hand-out sheet. They are to read over the text and the data table. Then they will answer the two questions that follow.
- The third question is an activity that is to be completed on separate piece of paper. The activity is to create a bar graph comparing the heights of the pyramids from the table.
-NOTE: Students who do not complete the activity (question 3) on a separate piece of paper will receive five points off their homework score for this assignment. Each homework assignment is graded out of ten.

- Student's notebooks will be collected on Wednesday, January 22nd.
- The following sections will be graded:
1- The First Empires
2- The Assyrian and Persian Empires
3- The Phoenicians
- Students should follow the checklist that was handed out in class. They should use the checklist to make sure they are meeting the standards that will be sued to grade their notebooks.
- Student's notebooks will be collected during morning homeroom.

- Students are to read the passage (hand-out sheet) about the Aswan High Dam and answer the two questions that follow. For the third question, which is an activity, is to be completed on a separate piece of paper.
- This assignment is due on Wednesday, January 15th.

- There will be a quiz on section 1: Egypt Under the Pharaohs on Wednesday, January 15th.
- Students can study their notebook or the Power Point presentation to prepare for the quiz.

- Read the passage and then answer the questions that follow. For the activity, complete on a separate piece of paper.
- Hand in by the end of class.

- There will be a test on on the last two sections: The Assyrian and Persian Empires/ The Phoenicians on Tuesday, December 17th.
- Students can study their notes, the Power Point presentations to prepare for the test.
- There is a review sheet for the test posted.

- Read the attached pages and then answer the questions that are attached separately.
- Students have an option of writing their answers on a separate piece of paper or they can print out the answer sheet at the end of the test and hand that in.
- This assignment will be due January 10th.

- There will be a chapter test on Friday, November 15th.
- Students can prepare by going over the questions on the review sheet posted.

- There will be a quiz on the section: The First Empires on Friday, November 8th.
- Students can study their notebook or PowerPoint presentation to prepare for the quiz.

- Students are responsible for interviewing the Great Sargon. They will create seven questions that an interviewer will ask him.

- Please Note: Any student's notebook that is missing an entire section or a majority of a section will receive a grade of zero. All sections are posted to Google Classroom for students that are behind on their notes.

- Students can study their notebooks or the Power Point presentation to prepare for the quiz.

- This assignment will be graded as a classwork assignment. It will due on Wednesday, October 23rd.
- Students are to read the passage from the hand-out sheet and then answer the two questions that follow. The third is an activity. Students are to write a news story about the discovery. Students must write their news story on a separate piece of paper. If the news story is not written or typed on a separate piece of paper then it will not be accepted and therefore affect the overall grade for the assignment.

- Choose one of the Public Works Monuments from the hand-out sheet and write a research report on it.
- In your report you should mention the following:
1- Why was it built? What purpose was it built for?
2- Who is responsible for building it.
3- Some background information on the person responsible for building it.
4- any interesting information about the structure you discover in your research.
5- This essay must have an image of the structure or monument you chose and a cover.
- This assignment will be graded as a test.
- This assignment is due on Tuesday, October 15th.

- There will be a test on the Neolithic Revolution on Tuesday, October 8th.
- Students can prepare by answering questions off of the test review sheet.

- There will be a quiz on section 2: Cities and Civilizations on Friday, October 4th.
- Students can study their notebook or the Power Point presentation to prepare.

- Students will envision a time period before the 1900s and describe how they spent their time during one day without the technology they are used to.
- This assignment will be graded as a classwork assignment which means it is worth more than a homework assignment.
- Students are expected to use details, examples, and most importantly display creativity in their writing.
- This assignment is due Tuesday, October 1st.
- This assignment will be collected. DO NOT attach your work to Google Classroom. Students can write out this assignment or type it up.
