Rosemarie Lobasso wins Steinway’s Star of Broadway contest

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. --  After an outstanding audition performance on piano, 7 year-old Rosemarie Lobasso was invited back to be a finalist in the Steinway & Sons Rising Star of Broadway Contest at Manhattan's Bryant Park during a competition that unfolded on the evening of June 28 at Steinway Hall.

Just two days later, the LoBasso's, who call Grasmere home, were notified that Rosemarie, along with another 14-year-old girl, won the contest and were asked to return in order to perform on July 6th during Steinway & Sons and 106.7 Lite FM Broadway in Bryant Park event.

"It was truly unbelievable," said Jeannette LoBasso, Rosemarie's mom. "There were thousands of people there and Rosemarie did an amazing job. She played 'Phantom of the Opera,' which she learned in only four days and she was incredibly courageous and calm for a 7-year-old."
